The Hills and Valleys of Single Motherhood
Being a single mom was never something I set out to be. I expected to raise my children alongside a husband—to have a partner who loved, protected, and helped guide our family.
But the person I married did not understand what it meant to be a husband or a father. For the safety of myself and my children, God knew it was time to remove us from that toxic life.
Does that mean it has not been hard? No. Nothing about this journey has been easy. There have been hard days, unanswered questions, financial worries, exhaustion, and moments when I wished life had turned out differently. But even through the hardship, it is better than what we were living through before.
God made sure we were safe. He surrounded us with friends and family who stepped in with love, support, and help when we needed it most. That does not mean I have not faced the hardships of being a single mom. It means I have not had to walk through them alone.
God walks with me. He comforts me. He strengthens me. He helps me through every hill and every valley.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (ESV)
I may not have chosen this path, but God has not left me on it. He is still writing our story, still protecting us, still providing, and still reminding me that His plan for us is better than the life we had to leave behind.
